Voting lists for UP elections now in Urdu — An important polling officer has decided to publish the list of the voting in Urdu for the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
In the areas where Muslims are in majority, the voting lists will be published in Urdu.
Although this will occur for the first time, and this has been.published usually in English and Hindi but now Urdu will also be used.
Pankaj Yadav of district Bareily has from the two areas of the district city and Cantt has decided to publish in Urdu.
He said, In every polling area for the help of the voters a helpdesk will be established so that the information about the polls should be shared with them and the voting lists will be available in English, Hindi as well as Urdu.
Sources from the election commission have told that out of about 100 polling areas where the voters are about 25 percent Muslims there, the lists will be made available in English, Hindi as well as Urdu. Muslims have about 30 percent population in Bareily as well.
As per the 2011 census the information on the first language and mother tongue of the people is also available but the registrar of India has not revealed them.
